    The Egyptians – 2001 National Geographic Map Poster
    School - Great Peoples of the Past Series
    Two great forces, the Nile River and the surrounding desert, shaped one of the world's most enduring civilizations, lasting more than 3,000 years. The river brought annual floods which deposited a layer of rich soil for cultivation of crops, and the desert acted as a barrier to invaders. The dry desert has also protected artifacts, which has enabled our learning about this great civilization. The map-side contains a map of the Nile valley from the Mediterranean to the Nubian Desert, on which is noted historical information.
