Condition: THIS CIRCA 1920 TOURISM PHOTO BOOKLET IS IN GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE...EXTERNALLY THE WRAPPERS ARE UNDAMAGED, BUT DO HAVE A SPOT OF DIRT OR SOME KIND OF GRIME ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE FRONT WRAPPER, ABOUT AN INCH IN FROM THE EDGE AND JUST ABOVE THE MIDDLE...INTERNALLY, SOMEONE WROTE SOMETHING THAT LOOKS LIKE "ALICE O" SIDEWAYS IN THE STREAM THAT PEAKS OUT OF THE FRONT COVER, SHOWN IN PICS 1 AND 3; THE 1ST AND LAST INTERIOR PAGES, SHOW SOME VERY LIGHT STAIN ON THE EDGES, AND ALL THE PAGES HAVE A SLIGHTLY "RUMPLED" APPEARANCE, PROBABLY FROM HAVING GOTTEN DAMP AT SOME POINT IN THE LAST HUNDRED YEARS...OVERALL THOUGH, THE COLORS OF THE OLD PICTURES ARE STILL BRIGHT AND VIBRANT, AND THE BOOKLET IN GENERAL LOOKS PRETTY NICE FOR BEING ABOUT A HUNDRED YEARS OLD...

Here we have a good copy of this early tourism booklet that consists of sixteen color illustrations of pictures of scenes from the white mountains of New Hampshire, including pictures of the hotel accommodations of the time. This was produced by Boston postcard manufacturing firm of J. V. Hartman, and were also probably sold as postcards as well as in this booklet form. I find a record of this booklet owned by the New Hampshire Historical Society, but am unable to find where any other copies have been sold recently. The book is not dated, but judging by the automobiles shown in the pictures this has to date to between 1910 and 1925 at the latest.--
