    Description

Bid is for one mine.  I’ve been a collector of mines, grenades and anti personnel ordnance for over a decade, this mine is often sold as “Russian issued” to get attention, when in actuality it is a Polish issue mine. IT IS EXTREMELY RARE TO FIND THE CAP WITHOUT PITTING, MINE HAVE NO PITTING. Due to military storage the caps on these mines almost always would pit, the consummate collector knows finding these without the pitting is getting extremely difficult to say the least. I’m fortunate to have numerous cases that were stored properly, and those who buy them will be very satisfied. ALL MINES ARE ORIGINAL INERT ORDINANCE, THEY CONTAIN NO EXPLOSIVES OR CHARGES.    These are Cold War issue.  Here is an informational on these mines.    The
    MN-111
is a Polish air-dropped anti tank land mine . The mine is designed for use on soft ground. The mine is cylindrical with six spring-loaded fins attached to one end of the mine, with the cylinder drawn to a point at the opposite end which is topped with a small wind vane. The mine is stored with the fins wrapped round the outside of the mine. Once the mine is dropped from the aircraft the fins spring outward, acting as a drag parachute, slowing the rate of descent to a peak speed of about 60 meters per second. As the mine drops the wind vane spins, generating the power used to arm the mine.
The mine is designed to penetrate soft ground up to the fins, which spread out flat across the ground. The mine uses a magnetic influence fuze, which is triggered by the magnetic field of an armoured vehicle. It also has an anti handling device which triggers the mine if it is disturbed.
The warhead is a shaped charge or Mishnay-Schardin effect design that can penetrate about 60 millimeters of armour at a stand-off of half a meter.
Anti-tank scatterable ground mine type MN-111
is designed for remote laying of minefields from helicopters
    Intended use:
MN-111 mines are designed for remote laying of minefields from helicopters. After the mine leaves its carrier canister, its flight path is controlled by a stabilizing/braking system. After being dropped, the mine is set in ground. The mines can be dropped onto any area, except hard and deep-frozen ground. They effectively eliminate combat vehicles and other means of transport from a battle field.
    Operation:
The mine is equipped with a hollow charge and non-contact self-destroying electronic fuse.
The mine is triggered when under a moving vehicle, at any point of its contour, or after a pre-set self-destruction time.
It has 3 serial-acting safety stages which ensure safety both during transportation and storage, and during land mining.
