Description
These miniature hat boxes are often referred to as salesmans samples but were actually used as gift certificates in the 1950's when you wanted to give a hat as a gift but the person had to have their head measured. This is a lot of 2 different miniature hat boxes, both with their miniature hats. Included are: 1) Dobbs Fifth Avenue Hats, New York. White paper covered cardboard with gold colored Dobbs logo horse and carriage on both ends and Dobbs Fifth Avenus on both sides. The top has a place to write the name "For" who the hat was purchased. The box is 4 x 4.5" at the top, tapering to 3 x 3.5" at the bottom and has a black plastic buckle strap with gold colored buckle holding the top on. The hat inside is red felt/flocked covered plastic with a black ribbon band and is in excellent condition. The hat box has a small scrap on the top left/middle, minor corner wear, and a spot on the bottom where a sticker removed the shiny white paper off the cardboard. 2) Lee soft plastic hat box with the Lee logo in the middle on the lid and a cardboard base that is shiny red foil on the inside and white on the bottom side. It has heavy string to tie close. The hat inside is red felt with a green fabric band. It has the original Lee "Water Bloc" hat label on the underside. Hard to find with a label inside the hat. The hat and box are both in excellent condition with no tears or splits in the plastic. A nice pair for the collector!
